"L'Afrique Fait Son Cinéma"/The winners of the 2021 edition / The Golden Ubuntu awarded to the film "Yafa le Pardon" by Christian Lara.

This film was our favourite for 3 reasons.

  1. the format, a "UFO" (unidentified cinematic object)

It is a memory-fiction that mixes archive and documentary images in order to raise our awareness of our common history around slavery, France-Africa and the relationship between Africans and Afro-descendants,

  1. The exceptional acting

Especially Luc Saint-Eloy, Sidiki Bakaba, Xavier Letourneur, Bienvenue Koffi and Caroline Ducay

  1. La mise en scène

The intimacy created with the viewer from the very first minutes of the film is to be commended.

Congratulations to the other winners of the other prizes. You will find the detailed list of winners by clicking on the festival page.

And congratulations to all the candidates who did not lose out. Finally, a special thanks to Blaise Pascal Tanguy, the whole team and the organisation.
